Acapulco is ready to host the Tianguis Turístico

Acapulco has recovered 17,000 of the 19,000 hotel rooms it had available before Hurricanes Otis and John, and is therefore ready to host the 50th edition of the Tianguis Turístico (Tourism Fair) from April 27 to 30, Federal Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora told the media.

“There are 2,000 rooms left to recover, and a plan is already in place to do so. We are working on reactivating the hotels that have not yet been able to reintegrate themselves into the tourism sector. A simple example is the Dreams Hotel, which had not yet been able to reopen. This has now been achieved in conjunction with the State Tourism Secretariat, which is a great ally.”

Acapulco broke its tourism record last December, and the port continues to generate events that maintain its tourism activity throughout January.

The secretary assured that there is a guarantee for the Tianguis Turístico (Tourism Fair) and for the arrival of visitors during Holy Week and the spring break season. “The federal, municipal, and state security secretariats are working in better coordination,” she affirmed.

Fonatur (National Fund for Tourism Development) completed the lighting of Fort San Diego as part of the port’s new infrastructure. This project, inaugurated two weeks ago, “is already a new attraction at night along the peace trails.”

The Tianguis Turístico will incorporate an investment forum and a community tourism pavilion in its 50th edition. “We’re removing the captains’ dialogue and, after this forum, we’ll announce new investments and new routes with airlines and airline CEOs,” the official explained.

Three hundred tour operators will attend, with Colombia as the guest country. Buyers will come from the Asian, American, and Canadian markets. “The success of a Tianguis Turístico depends on the buyers who come and get to know the country.”
