Another earthquake strikes Yucatán: a tremor is recorded near Ticul

This morning, Friday, March 13, a new earthquake surprised residents of Ticul and other surrounding communities and municipalities.

This time, the National Seismological Service (SSN) reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.7. It also specified that the epicenter was located 18 kilometers northeast of Ticul, Yucatán. According to maps, the closest community would be Mahzucil, in the municipality of Tecoh.

According to the official report, the earthquake occurred at 9:55:16 a.m., at a latitude of 20.54, longitude -89.45, and a depth of 5 kilometers.

So far, no damage or injuries have been reported following the seismic event.

Although seismic events are infrequent in the Yucatan Peninsula, around five have recently been recorded in the southern part of the state, near the municipality of Ticul.
