According to witnesses, the incident began after officers impounded a motorcycle belonging to one of the young men at a security checkpoint on 39th Street in the port city. Following the officers’ intervention, the young man immediately called for help, and other young men arrived at the scene. After freeing him from the police, they entered a house and began throwing rocks at the officers, sparking a confrontation that lasted several minutes.
Additional state police officers arrived at the scene and arrested the six young men. They were taken to the municipal jail, where they will face legal proceedings.
