The bridge connecting Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, and Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, will improve regional mobility and road safety. It spans the Ameca River, and its operation will reduce travel time between the Riviera Nayarit tourist centers and Puerto Vallarta by 25 minutes.
Construction of the Amado Nervo Bridge began in July of last year and represents a federal investment of 900 million pesos. It is scheduled for completion in November 2026; however, municipal authorities have indicated that it could be finished ahead of schedule.
The bridge will be 24 meters wide and will have six lanes—three lanes in each direction. The bridge structure will use 2,970 tons of steel, and the access ramps, among other components, will require 218 tons of steel.
Once the project is completed by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) in November 2026, the Amado Nervo bridge will benefit 7.6 million people, including residents, local, national and foreign tourists, as well as the logistics of transporting goods and merchandise.
