The Mexico City-Guadalajara train would pass through these municipalities, according to Lemus.

The Governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, announced on his social media accounts that he held a meeting with the mayors of the municipalities in Jalisco that could be served by the Mexico City-Guadalajara train, the new rail project of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration.

The municipalities that could be served by the Mexico City-Guadalajara train are:

Lagos de Moreno
San Juan de los Lagos
Jalostotitlán
Valle de Guadalupe
Tequila
Tepatitlán
Acatic
Zapotlanejo
Tonalá
Guadalajara
Zapopan
San Diego de Alejandría
Arandas
San Ignacio Cerro Gordo
Juanacatlán
El Salto
Tlaquepaque

The Governor of Jalisco confirmed that his cabinet will be “analyzing the alternatives to ensure that this strategic project for our state is carried out in the best possible way.”

On March 6, Pablo Lemus stated that this project, along with Line 5 of the Mexico City Metro, will improve mobility for the people of Jalisco.

“This year we are working on major mobility projects, such as Line 5 of the Mexico City Metro and the Mexico City-Querétaro-Irapuato-León-Guadalajara train, which will strengthen mobility in our state,” he affirmed. During the President’s daily press conference on February 20, Gustavo Ricardo Vallejo Suárez, commander of the “Felipe Ángeles” Engineering Group, presented progress on various railway projects throughout the country. Jalisco is included in this project: it is expected to provide immediate direct transportation between Guadalajara and Irapuato.

The official highlighted the construction of new railway infrastructure as part of Plan México, through the deployment of military engineers to build approximately 1,400 kilometers of new track, connecting:

Irapuato to Guadalajara
Querétaro to San Luis Potosí
San Luis Potosí to Saltillo
Mazatlán to Los Mochis

Currently, the project for these four lines is in the preliminary technical study phase, but construction is expected to begin this year.

It should be noted that, to date, neither the Jalisco nor the Mexican government has made public the official route the train will take within the state; however, the Governor of Jalisco has taken a significant step forward with the meeting he held this Friday with mayors from the municipalities to begin planning the railway lines.
