With the goal of solidifying the state’s position as a leading gastronomic destination, state authorities and the private sector announced the First Tlaxcala Cuisine Week. This initiative seeks to showcase the rich local culinary heritage as an engine of economic development and a magnet for national and international tourism.
The presentation was led by Jorge Lerma, Director of Tourism Promotion, along with Guillermo Torres, President of the SKAL International 749 Tlaxcala Club, and members Maritza Pérez and Ernesto Vargas. During the event, it was emphasized that culinary identity is one of the state’s strongest pillars.
The event will take place from March 23 to 27, with the participation of 13 establishments, including hotels with the “Treasure of Mexico” distinction, such as the Hotel Molino de los Reyes. The offerings will consist of three- or four-course menus inspired by ancestral recipes, with accessible prices ranging from 350 to 550 pesos.
A key aspect of the initiative is the support of the “Sabor a Tlaxcala” brand, which relies on the talent of 21 certified traditional cooks, one of the highest numbers in the country. The closing of this event will coincide with the official decree of “Tlaxcalan Cuisine Day” on March 27, institutionalizing this effort to preserve and promote the state’s culinary heritage.
