Governor Layda Sansores San Román stated that those who doused shields and female police officers with gasoline during the March 8th march last Sunday could face maximum sentences of up to 37 years in prison.
This is because the Campeche State Attorney General’s Office will present the case as attempted aggravated homicide.
Sansores San Román explained that the 37-year prison sentence would be requested by the Attorney General’s Office for two of the 14 people initially arrested for alleged criminal acts during the march, who were identified as the suspected perpetrators of the attack on the police officers who were carrying out their duties that day.
The investigation identified these two women as the alleged perpetrators, and they are currently being held at the Kobén prison in Campeche.
