Visiting Mazatlán is safe for all tourists because here in the city and during tours, we are very well taken care of, the people are very friendly, and the food is exquisite. These are some of the comments from tourists who visited Mazatlán this Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Tourism service providers, merchants, and restaurant owners welcomed 11,406 tourists and 4,000 cruise ship crew members from three cruise ships.
Walking through the streets of the Historic Center, Plaza República, and the Pino Suárez Municipal Market, the tourists—some first-timers and others who had visited four times or more—expressed their delight at seeing a peaceful and vibrant city, like Joel and his partner from Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Sonia from Toronto, Canada.
“This is my first time here, and Mazatlán is beautiful. The guide is amazing, and I highly recommend him because some people told me they were afraid to be in Mazatlán, and I tell them no, they shouldn’t be afraid because we’re well taken care of here, and it’s worth it,” said Sonia from Toronto, Canada.
“I really like the food, like the lobster, the salads, the chicken, the al pastor meat, and how they prepare it. That’s what I really like to eat, the tacos…” said Joel from Salt Lake City, Utah.
Tourists also enjoy buying typical regional sweets like jamoncillos, suaves, and cocadas from Isla de la Piedra, as well as haggling amicably with vendors of trinkets, such as keychains with images or the city’s name.
Data provided by the Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat indicates that the first cruise ship to arrive from La Paz was the Ruby Princess, which is headed to Cabo San Lucas. This ship carries 2,911 passengers and 1,147 crew members.
Next, the Norwegian Bliss docked, arriving from Puerto Vallarta and also completing its itinerary in Cabo San Lucas. This cruise ship has 4,805 passengers and 1,602 crew members on board.
The third cruise ship was the Navigator of the Seas, which arrived from Cabo San Lucas and, after departing from Mazatlán, sailed to Puerto Vallarta. This ship carries 3,690 passengers and 1,263 crew members.
The arrival of these cruise ships is a boost to the local economy, as passengers and crew will take advantage of their stay in the city to enjoy the tourist attractions and services that Mazatlán offers.
