With outstanding citizen participation and a strong focus on animal welfare, the second annual “Dog Beach Festival” was a resounding success at Plaza 28 de Julio, an event promoted by the municipal government headed by Estefanía Mercado.

According to the press release, the festival brought together families, rescuers, and pet lovers in an atmosphere of community and social awareness, promoting responsible pet adoption and strengthening the local economy through the participation of more than 40 entrepreneurs dedicated to products and services for companion animals.

Furthermore, the festival raised funds for rescue groups and helped establish the “Pet Friendly Route,” an initiative that is beginning to gain national and international recognition.

On behalf of the mayor, the Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, Estefanía Hernández, emphasized that these types of events not only generate economic benefits but also strengthen the culture of adoption and responsible pet ownership.

“The true goal of this festival is to raise awareness about the importance of giving rescued animals a home. They need love, care, and a family,” he said.

During the event, an adoption fair was held featuring dogs rescued by associations and independent volunteers, along with recreational activities including talent contests and pet costumes, as well as a market selling local products.

Sergio Beristain and councilwoman Matilde Carrillo attended the event. Carrillo recognized the work of volunteers and organizations dedicated to animal rescue and care, reiterating the municipal government’s commitment to the protection and well-being of pets.
