Another massacre in the state of Veracruz, this time in the town of El Castillo

Three men were shot and killed in the El Castillo community, in the northern part of Xalapa, a targeted attack that prompted a large-scale operation to find those responsible.

The shooting paralyzed the Xalapa-Alto Lucero highway and mobilized all security forces, who arrived after residents called 911 for help.

The attack occurred near Río Acuña Street, where residents reported hearing multiple gunshots. When municipal and state police arrived at the scene, they found three men lying on the pavement, critically wounded.

Paramedics confirmed that none of them had vital signs. More than 30 spent shell casings were found at the scene, evidence of a precise and swift attack.

The area was immediately cordoned off, and traffic was closed in both directions while forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office processed the scene and removed the bodies, which remain unidentified.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) opened an investigation and deployed the Ministerial Police to gather evidence and testimonies. So far, no arrests have been made, and there is no official motive, although authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a targeted attack.

El Castillo, a community that has experienced isolated incidents of violence in recent years, has once again become a hotspot in the region.

Unofficial sources indicate that two other people were seriously injured in the attack and were taken to hospitals in the state capital, where they are receiving treatment under police custody.
