The Colima State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported the arrest of Jesús N., who served as Secretary of Infrastructure and Urban Development during the previous state administration. He is accused of fraud following an investigation that links him to serious financial irregularities in the state of Colima.
According to the FGE’s investigation, the events allegedly occurred in December 2023. The former official allegedly induced a victim to invest in a housing project located on land in Manzanillo, deliberately concealing the legal status of the development to obtain an illicit financial gain.
This irregular transaction resulted in financial losses exceeding 20 million pesos. Jesús N. was arrested in a coordinated operation between ministerial agents and the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), in compliance with an outstanding arrest warrant against the former Colima government employee.
The ministerial authority detailed that the detainee was placed at the disposal of a judge to determine his legal status. The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) maintained that the accused allegedly acted in conjunction with another person to carry out the fraud regarding the land in Manzanillo, affecting the assets of private individuals to the tune of more than 20 million pesos.
For its part, the agency reiterated that investigations into any act of corruption or abuse of public office will continue. The FGE’s commitment is to bring to justice those who engage in illicit conduct, regardless of the position they held or the length of their tenure within the Colima state cabinet.
Finally, it is expected that in the coming hours a decision will be made regarding whether the former official will be formally charged. The Colima State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) emphasized that combating impunity is a priority to restore public trust in law enforcement institutions.
