Hoteliers in Nuevo León expect near full occupancy for Pa’l Norte and the World Cup repechage

Hoteliers in Nuevo León say they are ready for the 2026 Pa’l Norte festival, forecasting 90 percent hotel occupancy, according to Jesús Nader, president of the Mexican Association of Hotels and Motels. He added that expectations are also high for the World Cup playoff matches.

“The estimates are proceeding as planned, as are those for the World Cup playoff matches. Things are going very well. Both Pa’l Norte and the playoff matches are within expectations.”

Regarding the Pa’l Norte festival, Nader commented that the 85 percent hotel occupancy rate is very similar to that of 2025.

“In previous years, we’ve had around 80 to 85 percent occupancy. Of course, now with the playoff matches taking place on the same days (March 27, 28, and 29), hotel occupancy rises to 90 percent,” he added. The hotel association leader said that room rates per night have remained the same as last year.

“Last year, the average nightly rate for the Pa’l Norte festival was between 3,000 and 3,400 pesos, and this year it will be very similar,” he noted.

It was indicated that the playoff games will boost hotel activity in the state, given that 100 percent hotel occupancy is expected, as two major events coincide in March (Pa’l Norte and the playoff games).

He said he is currently not in contact with the hotels contracted by FIFA, so he is unaware of any potential cancellations. He mentioned that what is known is that FIFA previously made numerous reservations, and now that they know who will be attending and who won’t, they have begun releasing those reservations.
