To promote the newly discovered archaeological site of “Los Teteles de Ávila Castillo” and encourage tourism, the Puebla State Tourism Development Secretariat, in coordination with the municipal authorities, presented the “Tetelictic Festival 2026,” which will take place from March 20 to 22.

Among the free activities are the nighttime ritual of “Los Voladores” (The Flyers) in the church atrium, a healing temazcal (sweat lodge) and sunrise ceremony at the pre-Hispanic site, the “Quetzal” dance, and a lecture on “Pre-Totonac Manifestations in the Sierra Norte of Puebla” by researcher Alberto Diez Barroso, to name a few.

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier prioritizes the promotion of tourism and the circular economy. This event generates economic benefits and direct income for the local population, explained Mayra Ivet Sotero Juárez, Director of Tourism Products, representing Carla López-Malo Villalón, Secretary of Tourism Development.

The festival offers more than 150 artisans the opportunity to showcase their products, while traditional cooks present ancestral dishes. The mayor of Teteles de Ávila Castillo, Saúl Márquez Viveros, reported that they expect more than 3,000 attendees and an economic impact exceeding one million pesos.

The Undersecretary of Culture, Emilio Herrera Corichi, highlighted the coordination among the various government agencies to promote the archaeological zone, which is managed by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), and invited the people of Puebla to visit this historical site.
