“We are proud that his legacy strengthens us with enormous force. It reminds us that sovereignty is not negotiable, that justice cannot be feigned, and that equality before the law can never be postponed.
“It reminds us that the decisions that transform a nation are not easy, but they are always necessary. Today, Mexico faces new challenges, different in their form, but equally profound, and in the face of them, Juárez’s example guides us, teaching us that to govern is to decide with principles, that to transform is to confront resistance.”
” “Serving the people means, with honesty and courage, serving the people, plain and simple. Today, from this pluralistic, diverse Mexico that continues to forge its path, we reaffirm his legacy,” she added.
She stated that Juárez continues to guide the nation’s course and represents the moral foundation of the Republic.
In reviewing the history and actions of the “Benemérito de las Américas” (Hero of the Americas), Sheinbaum recalled that Benito Juárez was President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation and mentioned that an Indigenous man, Hugo Aguilar, currently holds that position.
