With the goal of guaranteeing access to healthcare in communities with limited hospital infrastructure, the Mexican Navy (Semar) launched the First Contact Medical Care Program in Hard-to-Reach Areas.

During this initiative, Naval Health brigades from the Naval Hospital in Ciudad del Carmen traveled to the towns of Nicolás Bravo and Oxcabal, achieving a direct impact on the quality of life of their residents through an inter-institutional collaboration strategy.

The operation of this program was not isolated. The Navy worked hand in hand with various agencies, including Health Jurisdiction No. 3, the IMSS-Bienestar (Social Security Institute for Well-being) in Sabancuy, the municipal DIF (National System for Integral Family Development), the Carmen Women’s Institute, and the Civil Registry.

This partnership allowed for comprehensive service, encompassing everything from general medicine to administrative procedures and social prevention in the heart of the state of Campeche.

Results of the Day: Consultations and Vaccination Schedules
During the activities, medical and nursing staff reported significant figures that reflect the need for these programs in rural areas:

Specialized Consultations: 50 general medical consultations and seven dental consultations were provided.
Biological Protection: Regarding human vaccinations, doses were administered against Measles and Rubella (MR), MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hexavalent (Hexavalent), and Pneumococcal.
Animal Health: Zoonosis control was a priority, with 46 doses of antibiotics administered to dogs.
Supplies and Prevention: 110 medications and 40 toothbrushes were distributed, in addition to providing preventive medicine talks to nearly 30 citizens.
Beyond Medicine: Complementary Services
The Mexican Navy brigade also included social assistance services, providing 24 free haircuts to residents, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to comprehensive development and ongoing support for the country’s most vulnerable communities.

With these actions, the Mexican Navy reaffirms its mission to be a pillar in promoting the constitutional right to health, especially in regions where geography often presents an obstacle to timely care.
