A new femicide was reported by authorities in Sinaloa, a state that has accumulated at least 17 murders of women as of March 9.
According to data from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the recent femicide occurred on Friday afternoon in the Progreso neighborhood, in southern Culiacán, when an armed group opened fire on a house, wounding a second woman and a minor.
Of the 17 women murdered in Sinaloa up to March 9, 14 cases have been classified as femicides.
In 2025, Sinaloa was the state with the most cases nationwide, and Culiacán, its capital, was the municipality with the most femicides in the country.
Furthermore, the day of violence in Sinaloa left five murders on March 20, all of them in Culiacán.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, two of these cases were reported in the Tierra Blanca neighborhood in an armed attack on a property where a third person was injured.
