The Mexican government, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), reports progress on the modernization of the Salina Cruz-Zihuatanejo highway, which connects Oaxaca with Guerrero, benefiting 1.9 million residents.

This project is one of the current administration’s priority initiatives, with an investment of 24.772 billion pesos and the creation of 84,000 jobs.

The 423-kilometer highway is being widened to two lanes, increasing the roadway width from seven to twelve meters.

The highway connects to the Pacific Coast Highway (Axis 15), which links the south with the west of the country. It crosses the states of Chiapas, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, and Nayarit, and is key to the development of the southeast, a region with high tourism activity and port connectivity.

This project will significantly contribute to improved mobility, road safety, and connectivity in the area, boosting regional economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for local communities.
