Hacienda El Salitre, an emblematic 17th-century building now a boutique hotel, spa, and contemporary Mexican restaurant, unveiled the details of its 2026 equestrian season, an artistic endeavor that aims to establish itself as a high-level cultural experience in Querétaro. The announcement was made at the hacienda itself, coinciding with its tenth anniversary celebration.
The activities are developed in conjunction with the Domecq Equestrian Cultural Center and are presented as a fusion of tradition, art, and equestrian discipline. The project aims to thrill and surprise audiences with performances that integrate music, dance, and the elegance of haute école in an immersive format.
Those present at the presentation included Diego Niembro, owner of Hacienda El Salitre; Ana Santamaría, representative of the Domecq Equestrian Cultural Center; Alexander Loera, the venue’s performance manager; and Viridiana Domínguez, special projects coordinator, representing the Querétaro Ministry of Tourism. Everyone agreed on the cultural and touristic value of the initiative.
The 2026 equestrian season will consist of three shows: Gitanerías, an equestrian fusion with flamenco themes, to be presented on April 10; Mexicanísimo, an equestrian theater performance scheduled for August 22; and Las Catrinas, an equestrian dance performance arriving on October 30. These productions are entirely thematic and represent three years of collaboration between the two institutions.
“I want El Salitre to be recognized as the official home of the Domecq Horses (…) you won’t see the same show or the same movements (…) they are all thematic, they all have their own magic,” declared Ana Santamaría.
She also explained that Gitanerías will feature more than 30 artists on stage and a strong flamenco influence, allowing the audience a close and intimate experience with horses, musicians, and dancers.
“I invite you all to come and see this new, improved, polished production, designed with all of you in mind. It’s a production that promotes culture, an unparalleled experience,” said Alexander Loera, emphasizing the production’s evolution.
Meanwhile, Viridiana Domínguez highlighted the project’s impact on tourism: “These kinds of shows help diversify the state’s tourism offerings and position Querétaro as a destination where culture and quality experiences are authentically enjoyed.”
Finally, Diego Niembro hinted that, although the events are not directly part of the 10th-anniversary celebrations, “expect something we’ll be announcing soon” to commemorate the venue’s anniversary.
Tickets are now available at www.eticket.mx. For the Gitanerías show, which will begin with a reception starting at 6 pm and the show starting at 8 pm, ticket prices range from 950 pesos to 1,275 pesos, depending on the area.
