For the upcoming Easter weekend, temperatures are expected to reach up to 29 degrees Celsius, with dry conditions, winds, and mostly sunny skies in Querétaro, according to the forecast from the State Water Commission (CEA). Thousands of people will be participating in outdoor religious activities during this period.

These conditions will coincide with traditional events such as the Seven Churches Pilgrimage, the Stations of the Cross, and the Procession of Silence. Authorities are urging the public to take precautions against prolonged sun exposure.

According to the forecast, Thursday and Friday will see highs between 28 and 29 degrees Celsius, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of isolated showers in the afternoon, as well as winds of up to 25 kilometers per hour.

The warm weather will continue on Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures reaching up to 25 degrees Celsius and winds, although there is a low probability of rain, favoring dry and sunny conditions for most of the day.

At the same time, the State Health Department is implementing its Lenten operation to detect spoiled food and has issued a warning about potential health problems, such as heatstroke and gastrointestinal illnesses associated with high temperatures.

“We have already begun the Lenten operation, which we always associate with the start of activities to prevent diarrheal diseases and heat-related illnesses,” stated the head of the department, Martina Pérez Rendón.

She added that diarrheal diseases tend to increase during this season, with a spike of up to 50 or 60 percent in June and July, and therefore recommended seeking medical attention promptly for any symptoms.

The official explained that, although no cases of heatstroke have been reported so far, surveillance and preventive measures are being maintained, primarily in medical facilities.

“We have not had any reports of it so far, and so we are also starting prevention and promotion work (…) increasing water consumption, preferably plain water, and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun,” he said.
