-The Governor of Quintana Roo Highlights the Natural Beauty of This Island Off the Coast of Calderitas, Where Dolphin Watching and Unique Landscapes Make It a Must-See Destination
Chetumal – During a tour of Tamalcab Island, Governor Mara Lezama extended an open invitation to locals and visitors to discover one of the most surprising and little-explored corners of the southern part of the state.
Located off the coast of Calderitas, Tamalcab presents itself as a true natural paradise just minutes from the capital. The journey can be made by boat in approximately 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the route chosen.
During the tour, Mara Lezama emphasized that this place stands out not only for its tranquility and pristine landscapes, but also for offering a rare natural spectacle: dolphin watching in its natural habitat.
“I invite you to discover one of Chetumal’s best-kept secrets… an undiscovered corner, a wonderful place,” she said, referring to this destination nestled in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.
The island of Tamalcab, she noted, is one of the hidden gems of southern Quintana Roo, where nature remains virtually untouched and offers unique experiences to those who venture to explore it, whether by its main access or by circling its back side, where the landscape transforms and surprises.
With this invitation, the Governor seeks to position Tamalcab as a sustainable tourism alternative, capable of attracting visitors without losing its natural essence, thus solidifying its place as one of Chetumal’s best-kept treasures.
