Yesterday, a supporter of the 4T (Fourth Transformation) was arguing with me about nonsense (in the typical fanatic way) regarding the PRIAN (PRI and PAN) projects and those of the 4T… “My dear,” I told him, “you’ve put the noose around your own neck.”
The PRIAN built the IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute), the ISSSTE (Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers), the railroad, the ports, airports, the highway system, created Infonavit (National Workers’ Housing Fund Institute), the Mexico City Metro, the Baluarte Bridge, the Chepe train, and so on…
“Did they have their flaws? Their shortcomings?” I asked. “Yes… but it doesn’t compare to the mess you 4T people have created now,” I told him.
“Here are some examples:
The only metro line you built, even while you were part of the PRD (Party of the Democratic Revolution) in Mexico City, was Line 12, and it’s already collapsed. None of the lines the PRIAN built have collapsed. Only yours. And now the entire metro system catches fire, floods, and derails.” There were deaths in the subway derailment.
The Maya Train cost three times what they said, is unfinished, and costs a fortune to maintain every day. It contaminated aquifers, devastated half the jungle, and has already derailed.
The Interoceanic Railway was built with recycled cars, and it has already derailed, causing deaths.
The Dos Bocas refinery. Also overpriced. It floods, catches fire, doesn’t produce what they said, hasn’t generated energy independence, and has also had fatalities. Now we have more refineries and more expensive gasoline.
The Deer Park refinery they bought in the USA has already had spills and fires. And it’s already generating losses.
The AIFA (Felipe Ángeles International Airport). Another unfinished and expensive project. It hasn’t helped reduce traffic at Mexico City’s airport and still lacks sufficient international and domestic connections.
The “Gas for Well-being” program failed. The welfare banks are being investigated in the USA for money laundering, which is why they no longer accept remittances.
They disbanded the federal police because of corruption and created the National Guard, which is just as, if not more, corrupt. Not to mention, they’ve had over 2,500 accidents in seven years—a record. And they have a high desertion rate.
They said they were going to build a healthcare system better than Denmark’s, and not only did they fail to deliver, but now the hospital infrastructure is a disaster. No stretchers, no beds. Not enough specialist doctors, no medicine, with a massive pharmaceutical company that’s a white elephant. But it served someone’s purpose of stealing millions.
And that’s not all. The army and navy used to be respected… now they’re corrupt, and few people respect them anymore. You only have to see how the navy got involved with fuel theft.
They didn’t end corruption, nor the luxuries of the political class, nor nepotism, nor shady deals… But they did destroy the transparency bodies, they destroyed what little independence the INE (National Electoral Institute) had left, the Supreme Court, the Attorney General’s Offices… they came to destroy everything.
Just look at the state of agriculture, fishing, industry… the health sector.
So, my dear, there’s nothing you do right. You’re a damn disgrace to this country. You’ve only been good for three things:
To indebt the country.
To steal with both hands.
And to give away money like crazy, just for electoral purposes.
Beyond that, you’re good for nothing. You’re inept, very corrupt, ignorant, resentful, big liars, vindictive, and very cunning.
So it’s up to you if you don’t want to open your eyes.
