To promote family time, physical activity, and responsible pet adoption, the Second Annual CaniCarrera 2026 was announced. The race will take place next Sunday, May 3rd, at Laguna del Carpintero in Tampico, where dozens of residents will join their furry friends in a fun-filled run.
Event organizer Laura Vega announced that the two-kilometer course will start at the main plaza and begin at 7:00 a.m.
The event is being held to support people in need and the SPAT AC Association by providing food for the dogs. The registration fee is 350 pesos per pet (up to three people can accompany you) to be entered into the general raffle.
CaniKits will be distributed on May 1st and 2nd at Ancla del Canelo Restaurant, located near Laguna del Chairel in Tampico. The kit includes a water bottle, a banana, a commemorative plaque (medal), a bandana, and a race number.
There will be raffles and a dog training class at the Tampico CaniCarrera.
But that’s not all! If you bring a bag of dog or cat food on any CaniKit distribution day, you’ll be entered into a special raffle for a pet house and pool. There will also be a special dog training demonstration and many more surprises. There are very few spots left to register your pet and participate in the event.

In addition, there will be a special pet adoption booth at the Family Monument in La Laguna, where only those who meet the requirements will be eligible to adopt a new member of their family.
