Chicharra Festival 2026: Flavor and Tradition in Xcalachén; Date and Time

141

Every corner of the Magical Neighborhood of Xcalachén will be filled with the flavor of delicious chicharrones on May 16th for the 8th Annual Chicharrones Festival 2026.

When we think of chicharrones, we immediately think of one place: Xcalachén, located in south-central Mérida.

This iconic neighborhood is renowned for its chicharrones tradition, and although the number of businesses has decreased over the years, the custom remains alive and well-established among Mérida residents.

The festival arose precisely from this recognition and the affection of the residents who grew up around this delicious dish.

Its first edition was held in 2017, and since then, it has become an eagerly anticipated annual event.

The celebration will take place on Calle 64 between Calles 93 and 95, in the heart of Xcalachén, from noon until 5 p.m.

In addition to the cicada, there will be music and cultural activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

As part of the effort to promote a more sustainable culture, attendees are encouraged to bring their own containers for food. Admission is free.
