Puerto Vallarta received a new federal security deployment on Tuesday with the arrival of 200 members of the Mexican Army and 11 tactical vehicles, as part of a coordinated strategy between the Ministry of National Defense, the 41st Military Zone, and the Municipal Government headed by Luis Ernesto Munguía González.

According to official information, the troops were sent to reinforce prevention, patrol, and surveillance efforts in the municipality. The military presence will not be concentrated solely in tourist areas, but will also cover neighborhoods and various zones throughout the municipality, with the aim of deterring potential criminal activity and increasing the authorities’ response capacity.

The City Council’s Secretary General, José Juan Velázquez Hernández, indicated that the deployment will have a strategic presence in the tourist zone, one of the areas with the highest economic activity and visitor traffic, but will also extend to neighborhoods, where residents have demanded increased surveillance and constant patrols.

Unlike special operations implemented during holiday seasons, such as Holy Week, the municipal government announced that this group of officers will be permanently stationed in Puerto Vallarta. The measure aims not only to reinforce operational security but also to improve public perception and restore confidence following the events of recent weeks.

The arrival of the military comes at a time when Puerto Vallarta is trying to sustain its tourism and economic activity while addressing local concerns about public safety. For the authorities, coordination with federal forces represents direct support for municipal policing; for the public, the challenge will be ensuring that this presence translates into effective prevention, visible patrols, and measurable results in the areas where they are most needed.
