Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama presided over the opening of the St. Regis Costa Mujeres hotel, an ultra-luxury project that bolsters tourism expansion in the Mexican Caribbean.
Mara Lezama highlighted the $250 million investment, noting that it reflects investor confidence in the Mexican Caribbean—the “Vacation Capital of the World”—while also creating new jobs and fostering shared prosperity for the families of the workers and staff members serving at the new resort.
The complex generated nearly 2,000 jobs during construction and launched operations with a staff of 250, with projections to reach up to 350 direct positions within its first year.
Representatives from Marriott International and AB Living noted that this opening marks one of the hotel chain’s most significant projects of 2026.
Federal Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora conveyed greetings from President Claudia Sheinbaum, who is championing domestic and foreign investment like never before—particularly in a sector that drives both economic development and shared prosperity.
Costa Mujeres continues to experience sustained growth in infrastructure and tourism, solidifying its status as one of Quintana Roo’s fastest-growing destinations and a major contributor to the local economy.
