Jalisco sets a historic record in exports

Jalisco registered its highest export figures for a single quarter, ranking second nationally.

According to data released today by INEGI (Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography), Jalisco’s exports totaled $17.3775 billion in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 106.6% increase compared to the first quarter of last year, when they reached $8.4571 billion.

Sectors with the Highest Export Values

In the first quarter of 2026, the surge in Jalisco’s exports was led by the manufacturing sector, followed by the agricultural and mining sectors.

Nationally, in the first quarter of 2026, the total value of exports from all states reached $158.1175 billion. The participation of Chihuahua (22.8% of total exports), Jalisco (11.0%), Coahuila (9.4%), Nuevo León (9.2%), Baja California (8.2%), Guanajuato (6.3%), and Tamaulipas (4.9%) stood out, collectively contributing 71.8%.

In year-over-year terms, the five states with the largest increases in export value were: Quintana Roo (764.7%), Guerrero (106.8%), Jalisco (106.6%), Chihuahua (69.0%), and Zacatecas (56.4%).

In the first quarter of 2026 (January-March), based on economic sectors, manufacturing exports represented 92.3% of the total value of exports from the states. Mining exports (both oil and non-oil) followed with 4.8%, and agricultural exports with 2.9%.

On an annual basis, the value of exports from the states increased by 17.9%. By economic sector, manufacturing exports rose by 19.9% ​​and mining exports by 6.8%. Exports from the agricultural sector decreased by 13.1%.

The manufacturing sector exports stood out in Jalisco, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Quintana Roo, and Nayarit; the mining sector exports in Sinaloa, Zacatecas, Chihuahua, Durango, and Coahuila; and the agricultural sector exports in Quintana Roo, Guerrero, Tabasco, Chiapas, and Coahuila.

Within the states, manufacturing exports predominated, with the exception of Campeche, Tabasco, Michoacán, Zacatecas, Sinaloa, and Nayarit. In these states, exports from the mining sector (both oil and non-oil) or the agricultural sector prevailed.
