Businessman Justo Aurelio Rivera Parrazales, arrested in Mérida, Yucatán, along with assets valued at 145.2 million pesos, allegedly operated for the Northeast Cartel.
According to initial reports following his arrest, picked up by local media, the businessman was allegedly close to the former governor of Chiapas and current Mexican consul in Miami, Florida, Rutilio Escandón.
Rivera Parrazales, who was arrested early Friday morning in the San Ramón Norte neighborhood of Mérida, Yucatán, is listed as a partner in four pharmaceutical companies registered in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, at least one of which has been a supplier to the state government.
OPERATION AND SEARCHES
The companies are Inmedicen S.A. de C.V. and Diagnosis Centro de Diagnóstico Integral S.A. C.V., Industrias Médicas Chiapanecas S.A. de C.V., and Servimedic del Sureste S.R.L.
At the time of their arrest, carried out during an operation that included four simultaneous raids, agents from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO) of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) seized assets valued at 145,263,946 pesos.
“Federal authorities seized 15 high-end vehicles, a safe, two firearms, ammunition of various calibers, a bag containing suspected methamphetamine, cash in US dollars, jewelry, electronic banking devices, communication and computer equipment, as well as documentation and digital storage media related to the investigation,” the Security Cabinet reported in a statement.
According to local media, the detainee was also involved in buying and selling vehicles and in March 2025 was mistakenly reported as one of the victims of an armed attack in Querétaro, in which a relative of Jesús Méndez Vargas, “El Chango Méndez,” founder of La Familia Michoacana, was killed.
NO POLITICAL TIES REPORTED
Federal authorities have not publicly reported on the detainee’s alleged political ties nor have they officially identified the criminal organization for which he allegedly worked.
The raids were carried out at the Inmedicen offices, located at 472-D 33-A Street, in downtown Mérida; at a warehouse on the Komchén-Kikteil highway; and at a house on Ciruelos Street in the La Rejoyada residential development in Komchén. and in a house marked with the number 315 on 29th Street, in San Ramón Norte, where Rivera Parrazales was captured.
