Federal Mega-Operation Paralyzes Northern Mérida Amid Investigation Into Alleged CJNG Financial Network
The federal mega-operation that brought northern Mérida to a standstill today is not an isolated case.
Criminal intelligence investigations have uncovered an extensive alleged network involving businessman Justo Rivera Parrazales (also identified in some local circles as Justo Sierra), who is alleged to have operated as a senior financial and logistical link for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the Yucatán Peninsula.
Authorities are also investigating his alleged connection to the killing of José Ángel Dávila Bernal.

The Alleged Connection to the Killing of José Ángel Dávila Bernal
Sources close to the investigation indicate that the alleged criminal network associated with Rivera Parrazales began to unravel following the fatal shooting of José Ángel Dávila Bernal, a well-known seller of exotic and luxury vehicles, who was shot in the parking lot of the Royal Campocielo shopping plaza in northern Mérida.
According to the reports, investigators believe the motive may have involved significant outstanding debts and allegations of large-scale fraud related to the sale of high-end vehicles in several Mexican states.
The investigation also alleges that among the affected parties, or possible business associates, was the CJNG, and that Rivera Parrazales allegedly played a key role in laundering money through shell companies.
Investigators are examining whether the order for the killing originated from individuals to whom the businessman allegedly reported.
Assets Seized in Komchén and San Ramón Norte

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) carried out simultaneous search operations in the exclusive San Ramón Norte neighborhood and warehouses located near Komchén.
According to the reports, federal authorities seized:
- More than 25 supercars and luxury vehicles, including Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini models, which investigators believe may have been part of an alleged money-laundering operation.
- Frozen bank accounts and documents that allegedly link the businessman and his son, who is also in federal custody, to financial transfers under investigation for possible ties to organized crime.
Ongoing Federal Investigation
According to the reports, the operation was conducted under strict confidentiality because investigators suspected that the alleged criminal network maintained protection and extensive business connections within Yucatán’s healthcare and automotive sectors.
With the arrests of the businessman and his son, federal authorities are investigating what they describe as one of the most significant recent cases involving alleged CJNG operations seeking to establish financial and money-laundering activities in Mérida.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have indicated that additional arrests of businesspeople or former public officials have not been ruled out as the inquiry continues.
