The Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office arrested a woman identified as the alleged perpetrator of an attack against members of a family of American nationality. She was charged with attempted aggravated homicide, aggravated robbery, and arson-related property damage.
The woman is Guadalupe Azucena “N,” alias “Lupe,” who has already been formally charged and ordered to stand trial.
According to the investigation, during the early morning hours of January 4, the woman allegedly arrived, accompanied by other people, at a property located in the community of Los Órganos, where the victims were staying.
The alleged attackers reportedly entered the home without authorization, fired shots inside, and started a fire. In addition, a vehicle belonging to the family was set on fire, and various personal belongings were taken, including electronic equipment, tools, and cash.
The prosecutor’s office stated that during the attack, threats allegedly related to the nationality of the victims were also made, an element that was incorporated into the lines of investigation.
“The investigation remains open, and prosecutorial actions are continuing to establish the involvement of the people involved,” the Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office reported.
Due to the complexity of the case, the investigation was designated as a priority by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of High-Impact Crimes (FEIDAI), whose agents carried out prosecutorial, forensic, and investigative procedures to establish the alleged responsibility of those involved.
The authority reported that, because the victims are of American nationality, communication and coordination were also maintained with that country’s consular authorities to follow up on the case.
During the hearing, the Public Prosecutor presented the evidence that led to Guadalupe Azucena “N” being formally charged and ordered to stand trial. The judge ordered preventive detention as a precautionary measure and established a deadline for the completion of the supplementary investigation.
The prosecutor’s office stated that investigations are continuing to determine the involvement of the other people involved and to pursue the case to its full legal consequences, while respecting due process and the rights of the victims.
