The Secretariat of Tourism (Sectur) of the Government of Mexico launched the Tulum Reborn Plan, a comprehensive intervention strategy designed to optimize mobility, improve tourism services, renew the urban landscape, and preserve the municipality’s rural areas.
The head of Sectur, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, announced that the strategy is part of the agreements reached during five working meetings with the business sector and citizens.
Therefore, this week work will begin on the renovation of Jaguar Park, which includes the definitive removal of the perimeter wall.

| Action Area | Details / Airlines | Routes / Intervention | Period |
|---|---|---|---|
| Urban Infrastructure | SECTUR and Private Sector | Removal of the wall at Jaguar Park and artisan corridors | Immediate start |

Restoration of International Routes at Tulum Airport
Regarding connectivity, Rodríguez Zamora confirmed the return of eight international air routes operated by United Airlines, Air Canada, Air Transat, and WestJet to Tulum International Airport.
They will gradually resume between late October and December 2026, remaining active until March 2027, with direct connections from New York, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, and Calgary.
Hotel Sector Outlook for the High Season
Meanwhile, David Ortiz Mena, president of the Tulum Hotel Association, stated that a sustained recovery in hotel occupancy is projected toward the end of the year.
Despite the challenge posed by lower availability and rising costs for domestic airline seats, he anticipated a favorable year-end season for the local industry.
Regulation of Mass Events in the Coastal Area
Ortiz Mena emphasized the need to protect the coastal ecosystem by limiting large-scale music and wellness events along the beachfront.
The hotel industry leader suggested moving these activities to venues with sufficient capacity away from the beach in order to control attendance, prevent traffic congestion, and avoid environmental impacts caused by excessive noise levels in fragile areas.
