As an activity to attract tourism and at the same time promote the protection and conservation of this species, the Tres Islas Hotel Association, in coordination with the Beach Operator and Administrator, carried out the release of 500 chelonians of this species on the beach of Mazatlán.
More than 200 people gathered on the beach area to witness that moment that took place at sunset.
The happy faces of the children accompanied by their parents stood out when they released the small chelonians, so that they could enter the sea and avoid being eaten by predators.
José Ramón Manguart Sánchez, president of the hotel association, said that it is about teaming up with the Beach Operator to promote conservation and respect for the environment, in addition to ensuring that part of the citizens and tourists have this experience to awaken your interest.
“Previously we had done this, when the Festival of Light was held, prior to the Festival of Light, because it has to be between 5:30 and 6:00 in the afternoon when the sun is practically about to set, because this “It creates less risk for the turtle to become food for seagulls or predatory pelicans.”
The hotel leader added that it is something very common for those who live here, but not for a tourist who does not live on the beach, and who has the opportunity to come to the port to live this experience, it becomes an attraction, but it also raises awareness about respect for the environment.
