The Guatemalan consulate in Comitán, Chiapas, has confirmed the fact and provided the list of missing people.
Amid growing violence in the border region of Chiapas, Mexico, Guatemalan authorities have activated an international alert for the disappearance of 10 merchants who were on their way to carry out commercial activities in the area.
The Guatemalan Foreign Ministry, in coordination with the Mexican authorities, is urgently searching for this group of people, who have not been contacted since their entry into Chiapas on November 16.
The merchants, originally from the department of Suchitepéquez in Guatemala, were dedicated to the commercialization of chicken carcasses.
Its sales route covered the mountain and border areas, including the municipalities of Motozintla, Chicomuselo, El Porvenir, Siltepec and Frontera Comalapa.
These areas have experienced an increase in the wave of violence caused by organized crime groups in recent months.

Juan Francisco Tupúl García, 21 years old
Leonardo Morales Álvarez, 58 years old
Julio César Vázquez Pérez, 27 years old
Amílcar Isaac Enríquez Villatoro, 41 years old
Francisca S. Murga de León, 36 years old
Mayco Josué Morga Enríquez, 30 years old
Luis Alberto Vázquez Sarat, 17 years old.
Furthermore, according to the National Registry of Missing and Unlocated Persons of Mexico, during the first half of 2023, 123 migrants have disappeared in the country, underscoring the seriousness of the migration situation in the region.
