The year 2024 began with a mystery that has surprised the residents of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, before the alleged presence of a ‘Ghost Shooter’.
The authorities deployed a search and capture operation to find out the identity of the mysterious attacker. This individual, known for attacking workers of the Maya Train, has eluded capture for months, keeping the community in suspense.
Government agents discovered what is presumed as his hideout in a hidden cave in the bush. Equipped with survival utensils, the cave revealed a bottle of water, a place to rest and pots, among other essential objects.
Although the authorities thought they had captured the ‘Ghost Shooter’ six months ago, on June 24, 2023, recent reports indicate his return to the outskirts of the city. In November and December, incidents were reported where an individual with a similar modus operandi caused havoc in the community, stealing animals, vandalizing properties and assaulting ranches.
The last attack, registered on December 31, 2023, left a cyclist injured by five shotgun pellets. The ‘Ghost Shooter’ surprised the sportsman who was hiking south of the municipality, sowing chaos suddenly.
Despite the efforts of the authorities, the identity and motivations of the “Ghost Shooter” remain a mystery. The community remains on alert, urging citizen cooperation to solve this enigma that threatens the tranquility of Quintana Roo.
