The port of Zihuatanejo has seen a significant increase in the arrival of tourists from the United States and Canada, which tourism service providers attribute to the intensive promotion of the destination, as well as the opening of new national and international routes to this city.
Merchants in the heart of Zihuatanejo pointed out that the influx of visitors is also due to the freezing temperatures that affect the aforementioned countries. In addition, they emphasize that the port has consolidated as the preferred destination for North American visitors in recent years.
The tourism service provider, Emmanuel Vargas, highlighted that this increase in the influx of tourists has generated a significant economic spill for both the inhabitants of the port and the neighboring municipalities, as jobs are generated and there is economic mobility in communities such as the Riviera Troncones-Saladita in La Unión, as well as in the towns of La Barrita, Barra de Potosí and Puerto Vicente in Petatlán and La Unión.
Vargas anticipates that the presence of foreigners in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo will continue at least until the end of April 2024. He stressed that visitors feel safe in this beach destination and do not hesitate to recommend it to other potential travelers.
In his statements, Vargas assured that this boom benefits all sectors, as it translates into an economic spill for restaurants, bars, hotels, car rental services, beach sports equipment rental services, musicians, among others.
