With the intention of bringing together the talent of filmmakers both local and national and international, the International Film Festival of Ciudad Madero will celebrate its eighth edition from November 21 to 24 of this 2024.

This was commented by Adrián Contreras, general director of the event, at a press conference held in Mexico City. The facilities of the Cine Lido were the venue for this announcement in which the bases to be part of the festival were also mentioned.

Know the bases to participate in the competition

The organizer highlighted that the creators will be able to send their works until August 31, through the Festhome or FilmFreeway platforms. Likewise, the productions must be made between 2022 and 2024.

As in previous editions, the FICCMA will receive feature films and short films, both national and foreign. In the case of the “longs”, the duration must be 60 minutes minimum and 120 maximum.

Meanwhile, the shorts can be extended up to 30 minutes.

In this eighth edition, the filmmakers will compete for the prize known as “The Golden Raccoon”, in 15 categories.

Best national fiction feature film, best animation feature film, best documentary feature film, best national short film, best documentary short film and best Tamaulipas short film are just some of the sections of the competition.

Adrián Contreras, as well as the rest of the organizing team, highlighted that the works that are not selected for the competition will be included in the Official Selection of the Festival.

A different edition of the FICCMA, what is the surprise?

One of the most important aspects of this next edition of the event is that the projects that are chosen for the competition will have the opportunity to register for the Ariel Award.

Likewise, in the eighth International Film Festival of Ciudad Madero, a tribute will be paid to the producer and programmer Isaac Basulto.

The organizers shared that the work of this filmmaker, who is recognized for being a promoter of the realization and dissemination of national cinema in the short film format, will be recognized.
