Around Lake Chapala, there are Malecones that you can visit on a weekend with the aim of clearing your mind from the city and spending a relaxing time.
The three municipalities, Chapala, Jocotepec and Ajijic, offer to spend a quiet day and away from the hustle and bustle, while observing the natural reservoir of Mexico, located mainly in the state of Jalisco.
CHAPALA
The Chapala Malecón is one of the most frequented tourist destinations, with an extension of around two kilometers, you will find a magnificent landscape that forms the lake with the city, craft stalls, bars, restaurants and the Church of San Francisco Asís, which is part of the religious culture of the place, as part of the Franciscan Route.
You can enjoy boat trips, as well as some sports and recreational courts or green gardens
As for cultural activities, there are local shows with the traditional band, norteños and mariachis.
AJIJIC
Ajijic has become the favorite destination of international tourists, who even become residents of the place, being a multicultural mosaic in its malecón you can find a great variety of gourmet restaurants from different parts of the world.
In this place there are at least 17 art galleries, the community is full of artists who spread over the walls, in addition, it is perfect to take a photo with Lake Chapala in the background.
Over time it had changes, at first there was only the pier, which was built for fishermen and those who traded or exchanged products and goods to use.
JOCOTEPEC
At the Jocotepec malecón you can find one of its most popular attractions which is the garrafa ice cream, a specialty that is prepared by hand in those characteristic wooden containers and using natural ingredients. The history behind these famous ice creams begins in the city of Ameca more than 70 years ago, later they moved to Jocotepec, where their flavor became famous.
In addition, the Piedra Barrenada area has a total of 17 restaurants, including those that are inside hotels, being one of the most important areas of this type on the shore.
