The Quintana Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation file for the aggravated homicide of the two victims and, as a first result, reported today that it has arrested two of the material authors.
A pair of foreign citizens were killed in a restaurant bar, located in the tourist area of Tulum.
The events occurred on February 9, when three people entered the Mia Beach restaurant, in the Selina hotel, located on the Bocapaila road, in that municipality, looking for one of the diners, who tried to flee when he saw them.
The man, identified by the Quintana Attorney General’s Office (FGE) with the alias of “Belize”, ran towards the beach area, while his attackers continued shooting at him.
During that chase, they wounded a woman of American origin who was in the place. Both died as a result of the shots, according to the version of the Prosecutor’s Office.

“Belize”, according to the inquiries, is pointed out for his probable participation in acts possibly constituting crimes against health in its modality of drug dealing and allegedly was part of a criminal group that generates violence in the entity.
The FGE clarified that the woman hit by the bullets “has no link whatsoever with the male deceased”, as was quoted in the local press, which identified her as the probable ex-partner of a DEA agent.
He detailed that, at the time of the homicide, “Belize” was carrying bags with cocaine and another type of pills that were made available to the Public Ministry, to integrate them into the corresponding investigation file.
