Sonora tourist dies after being run over during Truck Week in Mazatlán

Mazatlán, Sin. – A tourist from Sonora died this Saturday after being run over by one of the trucks that participated in the Truck Week parade in Mazatlán.

According to initial reports, the visitor suffered a traumatic brain injury and fractures in his legs after being crushed by the heavy vehicle.

The deceased was identified as Carlos Alberto “V”, 57 years old, who was watching the parade with his family.

For reasons still unknown, he was run over by one of the participating trucks, whose driver fled the scene.

The accident occurred on Del Mar Avenue in Mazatlán, from where the now deceased was transferred to a hospital, where he arrived without vital signs.

Paramedics heading to the accident site upon the alert call were trapped in the traffic generated on De los Deportes Avenue at the time of the parade.

It was in the bed of a private truck that Carlos Alberto “V” was transported to receive medical attention.

Authorities have begun investigations into this incident to find the responsible party.
