There have been 13 rescue interventions, where unfortunately, a tourist from Zacatecas who was pulled from the sea, despite CPR maneuvers, died in a hospital, indicated the coordinator of the Aquatic Police.
In just two days, Sunday and Monday, the elements of the Aquatic Police have saved 20 people, most of them tourists, in different beach areas of the locality where unfortunately one person died.
The coordinator of the Aquatic Police, Gustavo Espinoza Bastidas, said that in the last two days the elements under his command have carried out 13 interventions, with Monday being the day they performed 7 rescues, one of which, a tourist from Zacatecas, was pulled from the sea with a breath of life and despite cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR maneuvers, died at the General Hospital of Mazatlán.
“It is because of the see swell, a term that refers to a long and continuous wave movement generated by storms at sea, today (Tuesday) is the last day. Of course, the sea is not in conditions, especially in the areas where there have been quite a few incidents, such as Gaviotas, Cerritos, and Sábalo.”
Espinoza Bastidas highlighted that despite the warning flags that are in the beach area because all are signposted, people who go down to the sand do not take them into account.
The coordinator of the Aquatic Police indicated that the lifeguard elements constantly make rounds through the beach area and give directions and preventive measures to each person on the sand to avoid a risky situation when entering the sea.
He commented that this weekend a military band meeting took place in the city, which led to a significant influx in the port since last Friday, where after they finish their participation, they go to enjoy their stay in the port and take the opportunity to go to the beaches.
Commander Espinoza Bastidas reiterated that the flags are placed in all beach areas, especially now that the swell phenomenon has occurred, where there are return currents or high waves, which causes trenches to be made in different beach areas and this puts at risk bathers who are unaware of it.
