2 shots at construction site in Playa del Carmen; one death is reported

A 911 call alerted the Playa del Carmen Police about the gunshots at the construction site.

A shooting in a construction near the Chedraui Velamar, in Playa del Carmen, was reported to the emergency number 911, which caused a police mobilization.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. this Friday, when an altercation triggered an exchange of gunfire, while workers were working at a construction site.

After the detonations, the authorities received the emergency call and agents from the State and Municipal Police quickly moved to the scene. Preliminary data indicated that one person was dead and another injured.

The second victim managed to escape the construction and sought refuge in the Petempich Walmart parking lot, where she called for help due to a gunshot wound to the neck that was causing considerable blood loss.

Paramedics from the Mexican Red Cross provided medical care at the scene before transporting him to the hospital.

The exact causes of the shooting have not yet been determined and authorities continue to investigate the case.

Meanwhile, Ministerial agents remain at the scene collecting evidence for the formation of the corresponding investigation folder.
