Unofficial versions indicate that among the victims would be a relative of the former mayor Romualda Dzul
On the afternoon of May 6, the streets of the Maya neighborhood in Tulum, Quintana Roo, were the scene of a violent event that killed three people and injured one more.
According to the preliminary report of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the attack occurred outside a home on Mercurio and Luna Sur avenues, a few meters from the sports unit, in the heart of the city.
There, an unknown number of people perpetrated an attack with firearms that left three dead, while one more victim was injured and taken to a hospital in the municipality of Solidaridad.
Elements of the Coordination Group for the Construction of Peace and Security of Quintana Roo, as well as agents of the Mexican Army, were moved to the site in order to protect the area and maintain surveillance operations.
According to versions pending official confirmation, among the people who were murdered during this attack would be Andrés Dzul Caamal, brother of the late former mayor Marciano Dzul and blood relative of the former mayor Romualda Dzul.

The two other fatal victims apparently responded to the names of José and Cristóbal, while the man who was injured was called Patricio. These data, disseminated in media with a presence in the region, have not yet been publicly corroborated by the authorities. Likewise, the former mayor and other relatives of Andrés Dzul have not issued any statement either.
Fight between cartels increases violence in Quintana Roo
During a press conference, the state Security Secretariat recognized in recent days that the growing wave of violence in the south of Quintana Roo is due to a struggle between criminal groups.
Specifically, the authorities referred to the dispute between the Sinaloa Cartel and the Caborca Cartel.
Among the events that reflected the hostile panorama in the entity, the murder of Fermín Cortés Burgos, commander of the Secretariat of Citizen Security and former director of the Cancún and Chetumal prisons, stands out, who was executed by alleged hitmen of the Caborca Cartel after a persecution during the morning of April 29.
Cortés Burgos was riding his motorcycle near the Chetumal Naval Zone in an attempt to flee from a truck in which armed individuals were traveling.
However, in the middle of his escape, the police officer hit a car and was thrown from his vehicle. While lying on the ground, his attackers shot him multiple times.
