“Aerus” inaugurates flights to Cancún and Villahermosa, from Mérida

The “Manuel Crescencio Rejón” International Airport of Mérida yesterday expanded its national air connectivity with the inauguration of the new routes Mérida-Villahermosa and Mérida-Cancún, operated by the airline “Aerus” with planes with capacity for between 9 and 12 passengers, which come to satisfy certain market niches.
When presiding over the arrival of the inaugural flight from Villahermosa, Tabasco, the commercial director of “Aerus”, Miguel Legorreta Hernández, highlighted that they have expanded the coverage of operations and customer service.
He recalled that they began operations in Monterrey (NL) and extended to other important cities in the country until reaching Villahermosa, and yesterday they began the new route from the capital of Tabasco to Mérida, which he considered has had significant growth in development and quality. of life, so it was already necessary to operate with these “air taxis”.
Before the head of the Tourism Promotion Secretariat (Sefotur), Michelle Fridman Hirsch, Legorreta Hernández emphasized that they will work to increase routes, schedules and better service, highlighting that “Aerus” has the national record in terms of punctuality in regional routes.
“To date we have carried out 4,800 flights as an airline, with a load factor of approximately 60 percent and we see this new route as a watershed in our development; We expanded to Yucatán and Quintana Roo and we see it as having enormous potential,” she noted.
She highlighted that to date they have doubled their fleet of aircraft, in addition to this year they will receive another Cessna Grand Caravan Ex aircraft, and in 2025 they will acquire larger capacity units to provide better service.
For her part, the person in charge of the Office of the Governor of Yucatán, María Dolores Fritz Sierra, pointed out that Yucatán is experiencing a stellar time and highlighted that the arrival of “Aerus” marks an important step to improve the connectivity of the region and seek better opportunities for aerial development.
“It is the first to begin operations with new aircraft and welcoming them to Yucatán is cause for celebration. “The opening of two new air routes that connect our capital with Villahermosa and Cancún, in addition to a third route in Chichén Itzá and Cozumel, all routes that will contribute to the promotion of tourism in a national and international destination with a great tradition such as Yucatán,” he concluded.

The Mérida-Cancún flight will have a daily frequency; It will depart at 5:30 p.m. and arrive at Cancun at 7:50 p.m.; It will leave Cancún at 08:00 and arrive in this city at 08:25 hours (it must be considered that Quintana Roo is one hour ahead of Yucatán).
The flight from Mérida to Villahermosa will have a frequency from Monday to Friday, departing at 08:50 and arriving at 10:45; The one that leaves Villahermosa at 3:10 p.m. will arrive in the Yucatecan capital at 5:05 p.m.
