The state of Jalisco is home to 70 percent of the semiconductor companies in Mexico.
Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez stated, in a meeting with the Association of Maquiladora and Manufacturing Industries (Index) of the West.
Noting that this leadership is due to the consolidated ecosystem that has attracted firms from the United States and Taiwan.
“When some states are focused on a dispute over specific issues, we understand and identify a huge opportunity on the semiconductor issue.
“Having such a consolidated ecosystem with 70% of the semiconductor companies in Mexico based in Jalisco, we consider that there is a huge opportunity there,” commented the president.
It will strengthen its educational system
For this reason, he recalled that in June a new Technological Education System will be presented, with an investment of 1,800 million pesos, to increase the number of students in this area.
Alfaro said that the goal is to go from 15 thousand to 40 thousand students in technological education and from 58 thousand to 64 thousand in technological secondary education this year.
“Thanks to the efforts of the government of Jalisco and the Immex Industry, we now account for 67% of the state’s exports and more than 11% of the state’s formal jobs.
“Also, we are responsible for a quarter of the Foreign Direct Investment, which has recently arrived in Jalisco,” said Guillermo del Río, president of Index de Occidente.
In Jalisco, Intel leads this sector and, recently, the arrival of Micron was announced to supply this industry.
Humberto Martínez, national president of Index, assured that they will continue working together with the state government to continue promoting the growth of the microprocessor industry.
