With a march in Oaxaca against ‘LGBTphobia’, the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia was commemorated this Friday.

The contingent left the Fountain of the Eight Regions of Oaxaca, an emblematic site of the cultural and ethical diversity of the southern Mexican state.

The participants came dressed in black, while holding candles and shouting slogans against hate crimes against the LGBT community in Mexico.

The voices united in unison in the march replicated the global protests of this May 17 in the Oaxacan capital.

“There are 26 trans women murdered this year in Mexico, in Oaxaca there are none, but there is violence against trans women,” shouted a participant who led the protest “We will not forget them.”

“The biggest indicator is that in Mexico we are the second country with the most hate crimes, only after the Arab countries, and here we can no longer live in fear because it is succumbing and we deserve to live dignified lives,” said the participant Madre Cabalística in an interview. for EFE.

Cabalística marched in silence, dressed in black and holding a candle in memory of the six people from the trans community who are currently missing in Oaxaca.

With the flag flying the colors of the rainbow high, as a symbol that has become a symbol to make sexual diversity visible in the world, the march traveled approximately two kilometers to culminate in the center of the city of Oaxaca.
