From Guadalajara, this Sunday, May 19, the beating heart of the civic day that shook Mexico, experienced a symphony of voices, colors and emotions, also in more than 110 cities, which transcended the distance to the capital’s Zócalo in Mexico City

all in favor of the candidate of the Fuerza y Corazón alliance, Xóchilt Gálvez and against the president of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the Fourth Transformation of Morena.
The demonstration they called “19M Let’s Win!” established that the purpose of this, which occurs prior to the June 2 elections, is to defend, at all costs, democracy and justice, as well as to express its total rejection of the security policies that, from the National Palace, have dictated, “hugs and not bullets,” which is why they demand an end to the violence that expands every day in the country.
In Guadalajara, the Plaza de la Liberación witnessed an impressive flow of people, who began to gather there. More than 50 thousand people filled the civic square in the capital of Jalisco, where they gathered to show their support for Xóchilt Gálvez, candidate for the presidency of Mexico, under the acronym of the alliance Fuerza y Corazón por México, which is signed by the parties of National Action, Institutional Revolutionary and the Democratic Revolution.
And, from the early hours, Liberación Square became the epicenter of the Pink Tide, a human conglomerate that has taken to the streets to defend democracy. These demonstrations began in November 2022, then in February 2023, and repeated the formula in February of this year, in defense of institutions such as the INE, the Supreme Court of Justice, in short, in defense of the institutions that sustain democracy in this country. A human tide that, with determination, goes out and takes to the streets to show that in Mexico, no pretense of tyranny has a place.
“FOR LIFE, TRUTH AND FREEDOM”
“For life, truth and freedom, Xóchitl president, white. Starting at 8 in the morning, a small wave of citizens began to converge on the central square, each one carrying in their hands the tricolor flag that represents national unity. However, there was still a perceived emptiness, a latent expectation, because around 10 in the morning, the plaza did not look complete and the event was about to begin.
It was at 10:30 when the atmosphere completely changed. The Liberation Square, previously spacious and quiet, became a human hive, vibrating to the beat of the National Anthem sung by more than 50 thousand souls in unison. Among the crowd, countless Mexican flags waved, an emblem of the unity and determination of those who gathered for a common purpose: to defend democracy and the future of the country.
In the center, in the booth assigned to the press, a citizen raised a gigantic tricolor flag, while in the background the National Anthem continued to be sung with vibrant emotion, a tricolor flag that symbolized the determination of a people united in its diversity. A minute of silence followed, a deafening silence, for all the victims of this indolent government.
At 11:20 sharp, another silence took over the central plank. It was the time when the 110 cities were linked directly to the Zócalo square. The candidate was going to direct her message, in Liberation Square, through two giant screens and several speakers. The words of the Fuerza y Corazón por México candidate were transmitted as a single speech.
“BEFORE WHAT PARTY DO I HAVE A COUNTRY!”
Xóchitl Gálvez recalled the phrase of General Manuel Negrete when he joined General Ignacio Zaragoza, to fight for Mexico, in the glorious Battle of Puebla, pointing out that “before I leave, I have a country” and the squares vibrated with a great roar. The candidate continued saying that now, “before a party, we have a Republic; Before a party, we have democracy; Before the game, we have Mexico.” With each phrase, he drew cheers and applause from the followers, in more than 100 cities, who followed Xóchilt Gálvez’s words step by step.
Meanwhile, his words, broadcast from Mexico City, echoed in the ears of those present, as a call to action and a reminder of the importance of unity in times of adversity.
«I am here, as a candidate who received the mandate of more than a million citizens to lead the fight. Not for a position, but a fight for the soul of Mexico. The citizens knocked on the door and the PAN, the PRI and the PRD opened it with generosity and foresight. Thus, supported by a broad coalition, I am fighting to defend three fundamental values: Life, Truth and Freedom,” Xóchilt Gálvez said in her speech, while she was cheered in Liberation Square.
«Because they are brave and know what is at stake. You know that in these elections we are not only at stake for the Presidency, not only are we at stake for Congress, we are at stake for nine governorships. We are at risk of whether the following years will be one of oppression, or of freedom,” he stated.
Given the words of the citizen candidate, the mood of the protesters was perceived as hopeful and determined, as well as strong support for the candidacy of Xóchilt Gálvez. On the other hand, the protests against the current government did not wait, expressing discontent and demanding a political change in the country, under the cry of “Out with Morena, Out with Morena!”, the attendees proclaimed their support for the candidacy of Xóchilt Galvez.
But the candidate of strength and Heart for Mexico spoke to everyone, summoned everyone, did not exclude anyone in her speech, “the peasants, the farmers, ranchers and fishermen, who work in the midst of abandonment. “To the migrants, to the displaced who, due to lack of opportunities, leave everything and risk their lives.”
“To the LGBTIQ+ community that demands attention and an end to discrimination. To the feminists who fight every day against patriarchy. To our journalists, activists, artists and scientists, unjustly persecuted and threatened. To the indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples, who continue to wait for the full recognition of their rights. “To our police officers, our sailors and our soldiers, who have not given due respect to their honor and their work.”
“And I have listened to you, fellow PAN members, to you, fellow PRI members, to you, fellow PRD members. And to you, dear citizens of the Pink Tide and Xóchilovers. All of you have also faced insult, slander and lies from an arrogant and arrogant power. “You have resisted the attacks with strength and heart,” she pointed out.
The demonstration in Guadalajara was a reflection of the citizen mobilization at the national level, showing the commitment of thousands of Mexicans to the defense of democracy and the future of the country.
«Because they are brave and know what is at stake. Those who feel invincible, remember: These people have always chosen to be free. Let them listen to us inside the National Palace: Mexico will always be free! Therefore, today I ask you: Are you ready to vote and defend life? Are you ready to vote and defend the truth? “Are you ready to vote and defend freedom?”, highlighted the Fuera y Corazón por México candidate from the Zócalo Capitalino.
Among the crowd, a small eight-year-old figure stood out, holding a sign with the name “Sochil,” a reminder that the fight for a better Mexico transcends generations and ages. Dressed predominantly in pink and white, the citizens resisted under the harsh sun, demonstrating their commitment to the cause that had brought them together.
Words like those of Xóchilt Gálvez, full of hope and determination, resonated in the hearts of each person present, reminding them of the power of unity and the importance of the fight for a more just and democratic country.
The protesters carried banners and signs with slogans in favor of the citizen vote and in support of the candidate. “You have the power to decide the direction of our country, vote this June 2”, “Vote for Xóchilt, citizen like you”, and “For a Mexico without fear”, among thousands of supports for the presidential candidate.
In Guadalajara, Héctor Moreno, one of the coordinators of the demonstration, explained that the vote is for Xóchilt Gálvez, because she is a citizen candidate, without a party, since she was invited by the parties and became a presidential candidate thanks to the millions of Mexicans who openly voted for her to be nominated by the coalition.
“Xóchitl is a citizen like you and me, she is a citizen who understood that to do more for the country it was necessary to participate in this type of contest and that the vehicle is political parties. The parties opened the door to a committed citizen like you and me, that is why we must promote and bring Xóchitl Gálvez to the presidency, because she is a citizen like you and me,” he concluded.
The square was full and in the surrounding area, where they found some shade, many people stayed due to the inclemency of the sun. The organizers estimate an influx of more than 50 thousand attendees, “people who came to testify their defense of Mexico, their defense of freedom, their defense of democracy and their defense of the future of Mexico,” said Héctor Moreno
“Let’s defend democracy” “Democracy yes, dictatorship no,” read many improvised banners. This demonstration was called by more than 80 civil organizations, among which the Citizen Advisory Council, I Trust in Mexico, Misión Rescate México, Sí por México, Sociedad Civil México, Foro Jalisco, Xiudadanos MX and Frente Cívico Nacional stand out, among others.
