The federal government completed the Amado Nervo Bridge with an investment of 704 million pesos, a project that will reduce travel times between Bahía de Banderas and Puerto Vallarta by 25 minutes and benefit 479,471 residents.
The Government of Mexico, through the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), headed by Jesús Esteva Medina, completed construction of the Amado Nervo Bridge, which connects Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, with Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
The project represented an investment of 704 million pesos and generated 2,790 jobs during its construction, in addition to becoming an alternative route to facilitate traffic between the two tourist destinations.
Less time and greater mobility
The elevated vehicular crossing spans the Ameca River and will benefit 479,471 residents of the region, who will be able to reduce their travel time between the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta by 25 minutes.
The new infrastructure seeks to reduce traffic congestion, improve tourist mobility, and decrease pollution emissions resulting from traffic by strengthening regional connectivity.
A high-capacity project
The Amado Nervo Bridge is 2 kilometers long, with 800 meters of structure and 1,220 meters of access roads, in addition to three lanes in each direction, 21 pile-column supports, 20 40-meter spans, 126 piles, and 160 beams.
Its construction required 2,970 tons of structural steel, 218 tons of steel for the access roads, 18,500 cubic meters of structural concrete, and 12,200 cubic meters of concrete for the access roads.
Completed ahead of schedule
Work began in July 2025 and was scheduled to be completed in December of this year, but it was finished ahead of the expected date.
The Amado Nervo Bridge is part of the priority projects under the 2025–2030 National Highway Infrastructure Program, which is aimed at developing infrastructure with social inclusion, sustainability, and balanced territorial development.
