Mazatlán, Sin. – Despite the preventive actions that are implemented, the municipality of Escuinapa continues to have the highest rate of dengue cases in the state and is followed by Mazatlán, warned Gerardo Kenny Inzunza, head of the Prevention and Promotion Directorate of the secretariat. of Health of Sinaloa.

He commented that last month there was a considerable increase in the number of patients with dengue, to which he said that actions were taken based on this rebound in incidence, and currently the statistics are returning to normal.

He mentioned that, so far in 2024, 223 cases have been recorded.

“Throughout the year 2024, we have had 223 cases of which, the municipalities with the most cases continue to be Escuinapa and Mazatlán. Currently Mazatlán has had 77 cases in the entire year of 2024. We had had a small increase last month, but right now we no longer see that increase.”

Gerardo Kenny Inzunza said that compared to 2023, this year cases of dengue fever increased in the state, but he considered that a wave of cases that occurred nationwide had a lot of influence.

To stop the statistics, he explained that fumigation work continues to be carried out in the streets and going house to house, where they place ovitraps, while in the case of patients who are probable positive for dengue, they go to their home to detect and eradicate possible breeding sites and fumigate the entire home and surrounding homes.

Finally, the director of Prevention and Promotion, of the Sinaloa Health Secretariat, called on citizens not to let their guard down, to avoid the accumulation of objects where the transmitting mosquito can reproduce, and at the first symptom or discomfort, go to the doctor. in Health centers, in addition to not self-medicating.
