The director of Mazcociencia assured that the garbage problem worsens year after year in the city

Mazatlan Sinaloa. The generation of garbage is one of the most obvious problems in Mazatlán, which year after year is seen with the increase in waste carried by storm currents and reaching bodies of water and the sea.
That is why there are associations like the one led by Sofía Trejo, called Mazconciencia, which has been dedicated to the care, conservation and awareness of the environment for just over five years.
She explained that with the arrival of the rainy season, the placement of Biofences has already begun in some channels and outlets of storm currents towards the sea to collect garbage so that it does not reach the ocean.
“The biofences from the entire rainy season consume our time, because right now we are close to changing one of the sections that last more or less six months of life. We are already about to change one of the sections so that it can withstand the entire rainy season and organize the cleaning. “They do consume us throughout the rainy season.”
In Mazatlán she said that there are four biofences that have been placed, of which the one in greatest demand is the one on the Juárez bridge.

Sofía Trejo specified that each year around 90 tons of garbage are collected with this system, and said that despite these efforts that are made, unfortunately the problem of garbage and pollution gets worse every year and this can be verified with the collection of a greater amount of garbage.
She indicated that the generation of garbage is already a problem on a larger scale, derived in part from the fact that single-use plastic items continue to be used, so she asked citizens to be more aware and stop using this type of items.
