Authorities indicated that the fence is to place plaques commemorating the Children Heroes in the Juárez Park in San Miguel de Allende.

San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.- Citizens of San Miguel who go to Parque Juárez expressed their dissatisfaction because municipal workers are building a fence in front of the flagpole.
Neighbors and users of the facility point out that the work was not socialized, so they do not know what function it will have.
To make their rejection of the work visible, on Thursday night the protesters placed stamps with the legend ‘Closed by the citizens’. However, on Friday morning these were removed by workers who continued with construction.
Those carrying out the work pointed out that the fence is to place plaques commemorating the Children Heroes, a situation that the visitors considered unnecessary.
“I believe that here in the Juárez park the earth and the plants will always be welcome, but the bricks, the rods and the cement have nothing to do in this park, this thing of making a pretext to put something to the Children Heroes It seems grotesque to me, here is not the space to do that,” said Adolfo Cervantes, member of the ‘Va por San Miguel’ association.

From the Directorate of Heritage and Historical Center it was reported that the work responds to a request from the Sedena and the National Guard, who requested a space to place the plaques with the names of the Children Heroes to hold a ceremony in the month of September. so it was decided to do it in Parque Juárez.
It should be remembered that this is not the first time that there has been a conflict because authorities intend to build inside the park since, approximately 5 years ago, the municipal administration wanted to concession a space inside for the construction of a cafeteria that would be operated by an association. civil. The population did not allow it.
