The senior officer said that the restriction on the sale and consumption of alcohol will be applied without hesitation to warehouses, however, it is still “to be seen” if the ban will also be effective in hotels, restaurants and nightclubs in the tourist area.
“What we do know clearly is that the deposits are not going to… we know that in previous years, in previous processes, they have never entered (the tolerance). Here we are waiting and waiting for them (the Alcohol Directorate) to tell us who they cover and from where to where. Normally it is always the hotel zone.”
Olivas Osuna reported that Mazatlán groups such as the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac), and hotel and nightclub associations went to the Alcohol Directorate in Culiacán to see how the restriction will be applied.
The General Law of Electoral Institutions and Procedures, in its article 300, establishes that the hours of sale of alcoholic beverages may be restricted during the day of the election and the day before it, that is, 48 hours, and would begin from zero hours and one minute on Saturday.
He gave as an example the Expo Feria Ganadera Mazatlán 2024, which on the night of Friday the 31st will have the presentation of several musical groups, and will have to suspend the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages starting in the first minutes of Saturday, June 1.
The municipal official pointed out that it could be this Wednesday when the Alcohol Directorate informs them if the businesses that are in the tourist corridor, from Cerritos to Olas Altas, are exempt from “Prohibition Law”, as normally happens.
